So you want to catch some monster cats? Catfish eat much of
everything that’s meat. They also are a nocturnal fish. So, if you want the
best chance of catching some big ones, go at night.
Now you have to think about what they like to eat. Their
list of bait is long and fairly easy to get a hold of, so be happy about that.
Cut Shad
Shad are a very silver and shiny baitfish. On top of that,
they stink like you couldn’t imagine. This makes them very visible, easy to
smell, and all the easier for the catfish to find. This makes them coveted
catfish bait. Frozen shad is good, fresh shad is better.
Cut Bluegill
Bluegills are a pan fish, and many pan fish are used for
bait. In particular the Bluegills are good bait. If you use the head, their shiny
eyes reflect in the often-murky water. That’s why many master cat fishermen
will use the head, but the body cuts are just as good.
White Perch
White Perch are basically a mini white bass, which catfish
like as well, and more often than not white perch are easy to get a hold of.
They are overpopulating many of the lakes that they live in. So go nuts. Bag
them, freeze them, eat them, there are enough for everyone.
Chicken Liver
This is an old favorite, and it works great. There’s always
a little blood on that liver so the catfish can smell it fairly well, and it
must be tasty because they eat it up like crazy.
Chubs
Chubs are a lot like a minnow. They’re small and
cylindrical. But they’re quite a bit bigger than minnows. The only problem is
you might have a little trouble being able to find them. You might have some
luck in a small channel in a river. Most people that use chubs have a spot that
they know chubs live in.
Blood
This one is easy. If you know someone that slaughters
livestock you could probably get some blood from him or her. Then all you have
to do is put the blood in a pan and let it sit until it coagulates. Then cut it
into cubes and throw it on a hook. It’s easy as that.
Enjoy fishing for the big cats. I also might add that using blood
spray on any of these baits is a great way to help land a monster. Happy
fishing!

Locations of fresh water fishing can be found all over the
place, from local ponds to excellent rivers. But the trick is finding the best
locations of fresh water fishing that are available in your area.
So how do you go about finding these awesome places to fish?
The easiest and simplest way is to ask you friends and
family. Where do they have the most and biggest catches?
Be sure also ask them
what part of the river or lake they fish on, what time of day, year, etc. All
of these factors should be considered.
It might also help to get some local topographic maps to
find some unknown locations of fresh water fishing. These are more efficient
and showing smaller, hidden ponds and small lakes.
Be sure to look for valleys
or low elevation areas surrounded by higher land. If you’re looking for a certain type of fish, try contacting
your local or state natural department of resources. Their websites or local
office may offer plenty of information on some good places to fish.
In
addition, they may have statistics of animal life and pollution levels in
rivers and other bodies of water, which should help your decision.
Probably the best locations of fresh water fishing are
unknown; fisherman find them and keep them to themselves! But by using some of
the ideas I've mentioned and brainstorming your own, you'll soon have your own
